Myofunctional Therapy
Myofunctional therapy is intervention for improved or corrected muscular function of the oral cavity.
Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) with specialized training can help to facilitate proper exercises and routines to improve orofacial factors that may impact growth and development, communication and swallowing patterns.
The muscles of the face, mouth, and throat, must all work properly for correct swallowing. This intervention approach can help a patient with eating, speaking, breathing, and even sleeping more soundly.
Cosmetic factors can also be improved, when working with specialized dental professionals; dental issues can be corrected and sustained with a team approach.
Research shows that correction of orofacial disharmonies can benefit overall health of the patient.
